Mechwarrior IV Mercs Components Page 1
Components: Every Mech is made of multiple systems and components. Some of these systems are built into a particular Mech chassis and cannot be modified, most Mech components can be modified or replaced using the MechLab. All components take up valuable internal space known as critical spaces. Clan equipment is either lighter, is more powerful or takes up less critical spaces than the Inner Sphere.
HUD ( Heads Up Display ): The Battle Mech has a HUD, This Generates & Displays all information on the cockpit windshield relative to the Mech you are in From Weapons, Damage, Speed, Targeting, Mapping & much more. The Reasons why a Mech has HUD is; while in battle the last thing a pilot wants to do is take his eyes off the road to have a look at instruments. You never know he may run over a Moose or at best his Commanding officer!
Cockpit: Situated in the head of a Mech, the cockpit contains the pilot and the bulk of the command and control system electronics. If a hit that penetrates the head of your mech will most probably destroy the cockpit and kill the pilot.Keep this in mind when facing the enemy " Kill the pilot you kill the Mech"
Chassis: Armour damage can occur in the right, left, front center, and rear center locations. When incoming damage hits one of these locations, you’ll see it first in your armour.
Internal Structures: Any weapon damage that penetrates past a Mech’s armor can damage its skeleton structure. Too much internal structure
damage results in the loss of a limb (and all its weapons) or, if a critical area is breached, the entire Mech is destroyed.
Sensors Basic: Basic sensor equipment is standard on all BattleMechs. You cannot remove basic sensors they’re always there built into your mech. All mobile units also have a basic sensor array. A basic sensor array can not detect shutdown units.
Sensors Advanced: Some Mechs are capable of using advanced sensorsthat offer additional capabilities. These include the Beagle Active Probe (BAP) & the Guardian ECM. The BAP increases the sensor range and decreases missile lock time. The drawback is that it also decreases enemy lockon time because it emits such a strong signal. The Guardian ECM is classed as a defensive weapon because it provides a mech with a stealth mode by decreasing the range in which your mech is detectable. Guardian ECM also reduces the effectiveness of a NARC beacon if one hits you. Unfortunately, the Guardian ECM emits a strong signal and makes missile lock-on for enemy units easier. If your mech has BAP and Guardian missile, lock-on time is reduced. However, even though you have Guardian ECM, you can also give yourself away if you use your Jump Jets or your heat level is above the 50 percent mark.
Engines: In Mw4 Mercenaries the engine size / speed of your mech can be modified by sacrificing tonnage to up the speed. There is not specific engine make with these versions of the game.
Heat Sinks: In the version of Mw4 heat sinks are a single device are not applicable. Mw4 uses tonnage to either increase or decrease the amount of heat resistance you can obtain. Each mech may have a slighty different calculation dealing with heatsinks so some mech may cost you more or less tonnage to have heatsinks..
